Rhumbix is a construction technology company focused on digitizing and improving the traditionally manual processes in construction management.
Their flagship product, the Rhumbix Timekeeping app, was the company’s first major solution, designed to streamline timekeeping tasks on construction sites.
As the design lead, I helped take the product from concept to launch, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless experience for both iOS and Android platforms.
Challenge
In the construction industry, timekeeping was a largely manual and inefficient process, relying heavily on pen and paper methods. This led to substantial inefficiencies, with foremen spending upwards of 30 minutes per day logging hours, creating a high risk of errors and data loss.
Rhumbix needed a comprehensive digital solution that would not only drastically reduce the time spent on timekeeping but also provide accurate, real-time data for stakeholders.
Process
As the design lead, I began by conducting user research to understand the pain points of foremen and payroll administrators. From there, I defined key goals, designed user flows, and developed wireframes.
I led iterative testing with real users, refining the app to meet both field and administrative needs.
Throughout the process, I collaborated closely with engineering to ensure technical feasibility and a seamless user experience.
Outcome
By leading the design efforts from 0 to 1, I contributed to the successful launch of the Rhumbix Timekeeping app, which revolutionized the traditional process of timekeeping in the construction industry.
The app reduced the time spent on timecards from 30 minutes to just 5 minutes per day, significantly improving efficiency. Payroll administrators could review and approve timecards instantly, and project stakeholders gained real-time insights into project progress.
To date, the app has processed over 2 million hours, demonstrating its substantial impact on enhancing both efficiency and accuracy in construction project management.
